1. Who We Are

QuranWise.in ("we", "us", "our") is an Islamic educational platform providing access to the Quran, duas (supplications), Islamic history, and an AI-powered knowledge companion called NoorAI. The platform is operated as a public service and is currently not a registered company.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Chat messages: When you use NoorAI, the questions you type are sent to our AI system to generate a response. These queries are transmitted to our AI processing provider (Groq Inc.) but are not stored on our servers after processing.
• Age/mode selection: When you select your learning mode (Young Explorer, Teen Seeker, etc.) in NoorAI, this preference is saved only on your device in local storage.
• Saved content: If you save duas or Quran verses, these are stored only on your own device and are not sent to us.

Information collected automatically

• Server logs: Our web server (Hostinger) automatically logs standard access information including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. These logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes.
• No tracking cookies: We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or analytics cookies that follow you across the internet.

Information we do NOT collect

• We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment information (no accounts or sign-ups currently exist)
• We do not use advertising networks or sell data to third parties
• We do not use Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide responses to your Islamic knowledge questions via NoorAI
• To maintain your preferences (learning mode, theme) between visits on the same device
• To maintain server security and prevent abuse
• To improve the quality of the platform based on general, non-personal usage patterns

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

4. AI Services & Third Parties

We use the following third-party services:

• Groq Inc. — AI language model inference (processes your chat messages). Based in the United States. Your messages may be processed on US servers.
• Google Fonts — Font loading (no personal data shared, standard web request)
• jsDelivr CDN — Icon fonts (no personal data shared, standard web request)
• Hostinger — Web hosting provider (processes server access logs)

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

5. Local Storage & Cookies

QuranWise.in uses browser local storage (similar to cookies but stored only on your device) to remember your preferences. No data in local storage is sent to our servers. Specifically, we store:

• qw_age_mode — Your selected NoorAI learning mode
• qw_theme — Your preferred light/dark theme
• qw_chat_history — Your local chat conversation history (stored only on your device)
• qw_saved_noor — Ayahs and duas you have bookmarked

You can clear all local storage at any time through your browser's settings (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cookies and site data).

We use no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

QuranWise.in offers a "Young Explorer" mode (ages 8–12) designed to present Islamic knowledge in age-appropriate language. When a child uses NoorAI:

• Their chat questions are processed by Groq Inc. (see Section 4)
• No personal information (name, age, location) is collected from the child
• The age selection is stored only on the device used
• NoorAI in Young Explorer mode uses simplified, age-appropriate Islamic content

Parental guidance is recommended for children using the NoorAI chat feature. If you believe your child has shared personal information through our platform, please contact us at hello@quranwise.in and we will address it promptly.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

7. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers (beyond server access logs), most data rights are exercised locally:

• Delete your data: Clear browser local storage through your browser settings
• Access your data: Your chat history and saved content are viewable in your browser's developer tools under Local Storage
• Data portability: Your saved duas and notes can be copied from local storage
• Server logs: To request deletion of server access logs containing your IP, email us at hello@quranwise.in

Users in the European Union (GDPR) and California (CCPA) have additional rights. Since we collect minimal data, these rights are mostly self-exercisable via browser settings. For any specific requests, contact us.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the QuranWise.in platform:

• All connections to QuranWise.in use HTTPS/TLS encryption
• API keys and server credentials are stored securely and not exposed to users
• We do not store chat messages or personal data in our databases
• Chat queries transmitted to Groq are sent over encrypted connections

However, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you not to share highly sensitive personal information through any AI chat system.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our platform evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of QuranWise.in after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
